About Daytona Beach Main Street Pier
Known simply as "the pier" to locals, this 1,000-foot Atlantic Ocean landmark has anchored Daytona Beach's boardwalk since 1925, when it replaced an earlier wooden structure destroyed by fire. Over the decades it's gone by several names — Ocean Pier, Keating Pier, Pier Casino — and once hosted a Victorian-style ballroom that could hold 2,000 dancers.
Today the appeal is simpler: free fishing (no licence required) from the east end of the pier, open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in summer (March 16–Oct 31) and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in winter. Anglers commonly catch snook, bluefish, tarpon, cobia, Spanish mackerel, trout, pompano, kingfish, and even the occasional sailfish.
There's no bait shop directly for fishing supplies, but restaurants, shops, and the boardwalk's arcade make it a full afternoon even for non-anglers. Parking is available in nearby lots for $10/day or metered at $1.25/hour.
