A straightforward, no-fee, no-licence, 700-foot Gulf pier at Brohard Park on the south end of Venice Island — genuinely open 24/7/365 with zero admission charge, which is unusual even among Florida's public piers.
The current ipe-wood decking and railings date to a 2019 rehab; the T-end was damaged again by hurricanes Helene and Milton in autumn 2024 and repaired by September 2025 for about $410,000.
Papa's Bait Shop, halfway down the pier, rents rods and reels ($20/day) and sells bait, snacks, and even "Florida snow shovels" for sifting shark teeth from the sand nearby. Water depth at the end runs 15–18 feet depending on tide, and the pier is a well-known local spot for night sharking (one shark per person, catch-and-release encouraged). Sharky's on the Pier restaurant sits at the base for anyone who wants a meal with the view.
